Lynk & co 900.

This is the car I was a part of producing during my assignment at Lynk & Co. It is called the 900 and has, as of January 2025, finally been released in China.

I was a part of the Exterior Experience team under Louise Kivi, we were 5 people all together - each with our own area of expertise. My role was as the motion graphics and 3d visual artist position of the group.

The Exterior Experience team is only focused on the exterior lights and screens. The front techband on the car is made up of 10.192 LEDs, each offering 32 levels of brightness. This design allows for three-dimensional animations to be displayed, of which we created around 40 unique animations.

Additionally, the rear lights feature matrix sections, separate from each other, with a total of 2,400 cells. Here we created an additional 40 unique animations to account for the 8-bit graphic limit.

Our way of working was mainly creating concept design in Figma and After Effects, then using Blender and After Effects for the final animation, as well as rendering the result on the car in Blender for internal reviews and presentations. We built a template in After Effects using UV-mapping in Blender, to accurately match the LEDs and cells of the screens, so that every animation done was 100% LED-perfect. Every asset, text and model used were made by us.

We were also tasked with creating a 2 minute pitch movie for a brand new car project, where we were exploring the concept of ground projections as well as RGB lights, were I was in charge of environment, lighting and rendering in Blender, as well as 3 concept designs for ADAS start up, turn signal and pedestrian crossroad projections and light animations.

The videos presented here are the official Lynk & Co videos made by the in-house Visualization team for the release show in Shanghai.
